If success, opportunity, and (most importantly) happiness are the result of relationships (or at minimum interactions with other people), then anything we do that isn’t ultimately focused on improving relationships with the ones we want to connect and share our lives with is effort that will achieve a less than optimal return.

That is not to say that seemingly inward focused activities like reading or exercising aren’t excellent uses of our time: being a better conversationalist, a more energetic partner, and pursuing passions that interest us is how we nurture the most meaningful relationships.

Go do something that makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning; learn it, share it, teach it. You may not find the opportunity you think you’re looking for, but in it you will find the relationships that create the opportunities that can change your life.

I dig my MacBook Pro, I think its the best hardware/software creation machine on the planet…but, like everything else designed and built by humans, not everything is always perfect.

A big annoyance for me has been the occasional core audio freak out that won’t allow me to switch audio output to the speakers in my studio via Airplay. This glitch is particularly a pain because it always happens when:

1) I’m in the middle trying to get into a work zen

&

2) The only way I knew to fix it was restart – not the most productive method of GTD.

Anywho, to the punch line, and thanks to the inter webs, I found the simple terminal command to restart core audio and regain control of my AirPlay choices without restarting:

sudo killall coreaudiod

Rock out.

As the world revolves more and more around what happens on the web, more and more bonds are made and more communities are created.

Its ironic that even as the world becomes more and more digital, the things we learned from our grandparents become even more true:

After using Pandora pretty religiously for several years, I think I’ve found something better: rdio

I wanted to find a music service that would allow me to have more control over what I hear, would run in my browser with a clean ui, doesn’t have ads, and would work seamlessly with my when I’m on the go (via an iPhone app). I was never a huge fan of Pandora’s web interface (the newer site is MUCH better), and having to download a stand alone app for Spotify plus have to deal with ads just to try it was a put off.

I know I’m finding more new music, and I really like being able to stream an entire album to my Mac, then jump in my car and have the rdio app on my iPhone pick up right where I left off.

The audio quality is fantastic. To me, rdio sounds like it streams at or near CD quality. However, like many services, they offer a variable bitrate depending on your connection, so they don’t provide a fixed number. In my experience, it offers better audio than Pandora, and FAR better audio than the free Sirrius satellite radio trial that came with my car.

I’m still in my first month being a paid customer, but if you’re feeling frisky head on over to rdio and give it a listen.
